Frequently asked questions

Plain-English answers about how Arizona legal document preparation works, what it costs, and what we can and cannot do. This is general information, not legal advice.

About our service

Is document preparation legal in Arizona?+

Yes. Arizona allows individuals to represent themselves in court and to use a Certified Legal Document Preparer to complete their court forms.

What is a Certified Legal Document Preparer?+

A Certified Legal Document Preparer (AZCLDP) is certified by the Arizona Supreme Court under Arizona Code of Judicial Administration § 7-208. A preparer can prepare legal documents for people who are not represented by an attorney, provide general legal and factual information, and arrange for filing and service. A preparer cannot give legal advice or represent you in court.

Are you attorneys?+

No. QuickDocsAZ is not a law firm. We are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice, representation, or legal opinions. If you need legal advice, please consult a licensed Arizona attorney.

Will you tell me which option or package is right for me?+

No. Choosing a course of action is your decision, not ours. We can explain how a process generally works and what each form is for, so you can decide, and then we prepare the documents for the choices you make.

Can you go to court with me or represent me at a hearing?+

No. Arizona's rules for document preparers do not allow us to represent you or to attend court with you to help with your case, unless the court orders otherwise.

Is what I tell you confidential?+

We treat the information you give us as confidential. However, communications with a legal document preparer are not privileged the way communications with an attorney are, so a court could require disclosure in some situations.

When might I want to talk to an attorney instead?+

If you are unsure of your legal rights or options, if your situation is complicated or strongly disputed, or if the other side has an attorney, you may want advice from a licensed Arizona attorney. We cannot make that decision for you, but each service page lists situations where people commonly seek an attorney's help.

Which areas do you serve?+

We primarily serve Maricopa and Pima Counties. Our process is online, so you can order from home. If your case is in another Arizona county, contact us before you order so we can confirm we can help.

Pricing and payment

What does the package price include?+

The package price is our document-preparation fee. It does not include the court's filing fee or service of process. Both are shown separately on each service page, since they vary by county and case.

Are court filing fees included?+

No. Court filing fees are set by each court and paid directly to the court. Our Rates page shows the Superior Court filing fee for divorce and legal separation by county, and the Justice Court fee for evictions, so you can plan for them up front.

Are there any hidden fees?+

No. You pay one flat preparation fee. The only other costs are the ones we disclose separately: court filing fees, service of process when it is needed, and any optional add-on documents you choose.

How do I pay, and is my payment information safe?+

Payment is processed by Stripe inside our checkout page. You enter your card details directly into Stripe's secure form, and we never see or store your card number.

What is your refund policy?+

Our fee is for the work of preparing your documents, so what is refundable depends on how much work has been done. Before a preparer begins drafting, you may receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. After preparation has begun, the fee is non-refundable, and it is fully earned once your documents are filed. The full details are in our Terms of Service.

How it works

What happens after I order?+

After you pay, you complete a secure case intake. A certified preparer reviews your answers, prepares your documents, and may contact you to confirm details before they are finalized. Your documents are then delivered to you with instructions for the next steps.

How long does the intake take?+

Most people finish in about ten to fifteen minutes. You can save your progress and come back to finish later.

How long does the process take?+

It depends on the service and the court's schedule. Arizona has required waiting periods for divorce, and eviction timelines depend on notice and hearing dates. We'll walk you through the specific timeline for your case during intake.

Will you file my documents with the court?+

It depends on the package. Each service page lists what is included, including whether filing and service of process are handled for you. Where a package does not include filing, you will receive clear instructions for filing the documents yourself.

Do I have to sign my documents, and do any need a notary?+

Yes, you sign your own documents. A preparer cannot sign them for you. Some documents, such as a verified petition or certain estate planning documents, must be signed in front of a notary or with witnesses. Your instructions tell you which documents need what.

Can I talk to someone before I order?+

Yes. You can schedule a video appointment from the Schedule an Appointment button at the top of any page. Appointments are for general information about how the process works and what each package includes. They are not legal advice.

Evictions

What notice does a landlord need before filing an eviction?+

For unpaid rent under Arizona's residential landlord and tenant law, a landlord generally must first give the tenant a written five-day notice to pay or quit (A.R.S. § 33-1368). We offer that notice on its own and as part of our complete eviction packet. Mobile home parks, subsidized housing, and commercial leases can follow different rules.

Where is an eviction case filed?+

Eviction cases are filed in the Justice Court precinct that covers the rental property's address. We confirm the correct court for your property during intake.

Do you handle the lockout or appear at the hearing?+

No. We prepare your documents. A constable carries out a lockout when a Writ of Restitution is executed, which carries its own fee, and the landlord or an authorized representative attends the hearing.

Living trusts

What is a revocable living trust?+

A revocable living trust is a document that holds property you place into it. You can usually manage and change it while you are alive, and a successor trustee you name takes over after you. Whether a trust fits your situation is your decision. Our Trusts page explains the general differences between the options.

Does a living trust avoid probate?+

Property properly titled in the name of a living trust generally passes to your beneficiaries without a probate court case. Property that is left out of the trust may still need to go through probate. This is general information, not advice about your situation.

Do I still need a will if I have a trust?+

A pour-over will is commonly used alongside a trust. It directs any property that was not transferred into the trust to be placed in it. Our trust packages include a pour-over will, and the Trusts page lists everything in each package.

Privacy and security

Do your forms ask for my Social Security number or bank details?+

No. Our online forms do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or card numbers. If a court form requires a number like that, we will tell you how to provide it.

Who can see the information I give you?+

Your information is used to prepare your documents. A small number of service providers handle it only to run our website, such as payment processing, database hosting, and email delivery. We do not sell your information. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
